Longer version: We met him on a recommendation after another local landscape designer proved himself an utter disappointment. We have a cute little Craftsman cottage in Elmwood Village, and we wanted a native-heavy perennial garden with some entertainment space and a little spot for our puppy. Peter delivered, and then some! He effortlessly pairs practicality with a wonderful eye for design. The very first question he asked was, "How do you envision using this space?" From there, it was all about color, the level of maintenance we were comfortable with, what plants we loved (and didn't), what sort of hardscape materials we favored, etc. He heard every single thing that was important to us and his plans reflected our priorities. He found unexpected ways to bring our vision to life and save some money along the way. But he didn't stop there... when he heard of our plans to install a small mural along our driveway, he found two local artists for us to consult. He gave us his best recommendation for a local contractor to handle the hardscape (and do it before the snow flies). And then he gave us names and tips for getting the best prices on plants from local growers. He was amazing every step of the way and I can't wait to tell everybody who comes to the 2022 Buffalo Garden Walk who helped make my garden gorgeous!

So glad I hired Gaelic Clover! I learned about Peter on Nextdoor.com and he seemed like a perfect fit because I own a small cottage in a rural area and wanted cottage garden landscaping that would perfectly complement my home. When I bought my home, it had little to no landscaping.

Peter came by in person for a consult and we spoke several times by phone. He asked good questions about what I was hoping for, my likes and dislikes in terms of types of plants, level of maintenance, color preferences, and so forth. He had great suggestions about the installation of a picket fence in front of my house to increase its cottage appeal. Peter presented his final design, showing me photos of the plants he would recommend and why. Then he was open to revising the design, if needed. Peter is so knowledgeable and I learned a great deal from him (who knew there were bunny resistant plants?!). He's patient, non-judgmental (I am not a gardener) and fun to work with! He was responsive to any questions I had through-out the process. I am also grateful he was able to recommend reputable landscapers to provide me with an estimate and conduct the installation. I am waiting for my new garden to be installed and once it is, I know it's going to be BEAUTIFUL!

We were referred to Peter Burke of Gaelic Clover Landscape Design by our landscaper. As we entered our final phase of landscaping which had (eventual) patio elevation, sun/shade areas differences and drainage concerns, we needed someone that could tie these along with the deer and pests present in our neighborhood into something that would not only be beautiful but grow and flourish. We realized we needed someone familiar with all these factors and the characteristics of shrub, tree, and "pests" we would ultimately consider.

Our initial visit was more extensive and detailed than expected, and we knew we had found someone that could overcome the challenges we faced. After review of the project scope and our tastes, which included some Japanese/Oriental plants and shrub considerations, we began the process of viewing and analyzing dozens upon dozens of plants, shrubs and trees. As a result of our meetings and changes, Peter designed a backyard patio and surrounding gardens that were beyond our imagination.

We have come to realize that since the project was completed in early June 2022, his knowledge of plant sizes, spacing, bloom times and colors has truly become apparent. While meeting and indicating "Yes, we like that, and that would work...," it wasn't until we have been living with the results of his vision and brilliance that it solidified just how talented he is. The various shrubs and perennials (we did not plant annuals) have begun to bloom and display colors throughout the summer season and have been a true joy. We cannot wait for the fall foliage to reveal itself. The watering and care we have shown has allowed us to witness the growth firsthand and has left us in awe of just how beautiful it looks.

In summary, we would without reservation, fully recommend Peter Burke as a landscape designer, as his design ability, creativity, knowledge and patience is well worth any investment. Thank you, Peter!
